Security Doors

Security Doors – protect your home today!

Door security relates to prevention of door-related burglaries. Such break-ins take place in various forms, and in a number of locations; ranging from front, back and side doors to garage doors.

A good quality security door allows the fresh air to flow through your home but also provides security for you and your family.

We have a range of security doors that are suitable for many applications – front doors, back doors, etc.

Choice advises that “A proper security door must have a combination of several elements that make it secure. For example, a strong grille is useless if the lock’s easily broken. And a solid lock doesn’t help if the hinges can be jemmied from the frame in moments.”

Aluminium doors

While aluminium is less prone to corrosion than steel, the Australian standard still requires protection against corrosion by anodising or powder-coating. Make sure it’s made from heat-strengthened (tempered) aluminium.

Stainless steel mesh

Marine-grade 316 mesh (the advantage is that it’s corrosion-resistant in salty environments) or 304 grade mesh can be used in the installation of Security Doors. As long as either mesg meets the Australian standard the type of mesh used is usually dependant the area in which you live i.e. beach areas would be best to use the 316 mesh. The frames of these doors are usually to be aluminium, so the points under Aluminium doors apply (see above).

Steel doors

If it meets the standard it’ll be protected against corrosion. To prevent rust in other steel doors, especially if you live near the sea, consider getting one that’s been hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated. (Removing salt build-up with regular washing in warm soapy water can also help.)
